The Siskiyou County Inter-Agency Explorer Program is sanctioned through
the Boy Scouts of America, “Learning for Life” program.
The program is a work site based
career education program open to young men and women, 14-20 years old who
desire to learn about a career in law enforcement.
The
program is developed and supervised by local law enforcement and
individuals providing an opportunity for young adults to experience the
skills required for a career in law enforcement.
Exploring is based on five areas of emphasis:The benefits Explorers receive:
Law Enforcement Training:

After completing training requirements Explorers are eligible to
ride-a-long with patrol deputies and officers from agencies in Siskiyou
County. Explorers will gain
experiential knowledge of the patrol functions and policing procedures.

control, children’s fingerprinting, school programs, mentors for
other youth, bicycle safety rodeos, youth camps,
NRA Eddie Eagle gun safety program, and the Mt. Shasta

Competitions:
Explorers occasionally participate in competitions with other

These competitions encourage the development of friendships
and experiences.
